UK - Muhammad Bear - Muslim protest rings hollow

Ever notice how Muslims rise up only when it's Islam that is under the spotlight?

While I am glad SAIRA KHAN feels compelled to protest the barbaric treatment of Ms. Gibbons and the rape victim who is to be lashed, yes victim, in Saudi Arabia, one wonders why Ms. Khan isn't calling for protests against the persecution of Christians, Jews, women or gays in Muslim lands.

Where was Ms. Khan when the Christian convert was hounded out of Afghanistan? Where was she when the teenage gays were hung in Iran? Why does she not speak out against the Saudi school textbooks that preach hate against Jews and Christians? Why does she not demonstrate against the persecution of Christians in Muslim lands like Egypt or Saudi Arabia where Bibles are banned? Why has she not protested against the Muslim preachers of hate that openly preach hate in British mosques? Why has she not protested against the barbaric rape laws of many other Islamic countries, where a woman needs 4 male witnesses to allege rape? Why hasn't she protested against Muslim preachers who teach that it is ok to beat your wife?

Ms. Khan notes her distain for the Muhammad cartoons, her belief that Muhammad should never be depicted but that the Muslim world's reaction to them was way overboard. She fails to mention that these same cartoons, minus the ones fabricated by a Muslim preacher to stir up hate against the west, were first published in an Egyptian newspaper without any problem. She also seems ignorant of the fact that for centuries Muhammad was depicted in art - by Muslims! This notion, along with the covering up of women, is a recent invention by Muslims. In fact, the veil is not a religious symbol and is banned in some Muslim countries.

All of that makes this statment by Ms. Khan ridiculus.

"This is the perfect opportunity for us to show that Islam is not the faith of hatred and intolerance that many imagine it to be. "

No, Ms. Khan, this is a perfect opportunity for you and others like to you to deflect attention away from the root causes of these problems around the world - Islam.

Iraq - Bill Clinton Flatly Asserts He Opposed War at Start

He was for it before he was against it. Typical lying Democrat.

Here's Clinton in 1998 on why he attacked Iraq. As you read this, remember how the Democrats, like his wife, keep saying they were misled into the war.

"Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.

Their purpose is to protect the national interest of the United States, and indeed the interests of people throughout the Middle East and around the world.

Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons. "

More flip flopping here.

"A spokesman for Bill Clinton tried to downplay the former president's comments by distinguishing between the authority to go to war, which both Clintons supported, and President Bush's decision to use that authority when he did."

Say what? If you didn't want him to go to war Bill you shouldn't have supported giving him authority to go to war. Duh.

Iraq - Baghdad: A tale of two cities

"Reporters say Baghdad too dangerous despite surge" blares Reuters.

"Cabbies, Though Still Wary, Find a Wider Comfort Zone" headlines the Washington Post.

The Retuers report has this clanger:

"The survey by the Washington-based Pew Research Center showed that many U.S. journalists believe coverage has painted too rosy a picture of the conflict."

Only in their left wing mind.

Update

More here.

"Today, as the Associated Press reports: "Twilight brings traffic jams to the main shopping district of this once-affluent corner of Baghdad, and hundreds of people stroll past well-stocked vegetable stands, bakeries and butcher shops." Women shop in its reopened stores, and men drink tea in sidewalk cafes."

US - Clinton Buckling Under the Pressure of an Unfavorable Poll

Sri Lanka: Truth, bias and the BBC

Truth and the BBC in the same sentence?

I love beeboid thinking.

"One is that people really care what the BBC says about Sri Lanka. It is the only international broadcaster with a permanent presence in Sri Lanka."

Well gee, if you're the only game in town!

And talk about delusional.

"The second is that, no matter how much we strive to maintain our guidelines of impartiality and accuracy, there will always be people on either side convinced we are biased against them."

Well Bernard Gabony when you openly brag about being left wing, anti American, pro Islamist, lie and fabricate reports, it's easy to be convinced.

Here's an alternate view of the BBC's Sri Lankan coverage, written over a year ago and mentions Mr. Gabony.

Democracy & Radical Islam

" The main cause of Islamic radicalism is Islamic doctrine, not lack of democracy."

Yep.

Sudan teddy insult teacher: Readers' views

from the BBC.

Got to love the BBC headline. From that it sounds like the teddy was insulted. Bwahahah.

Read the comments. Don't you find it annoying that Muslims keep demanding that we respect their customs while at the same time demand that we change our customs to fit theirs?

If Muhammad is so revered why do Muslims name babies after him? Surely no mortal should be named after such a supposedly exalted person.

On the positive side, if there is one, this is just another example of how barbaric Islam is.

Iraq isn't Vietnam

But that doesn't stop the BBC from trying to make it so.

"But, inevitably, comparisons are being made between the two conflicts.

In some ways the similarities are obvious.

There is the sense of a war entered into under false pretences. "

The "inevitably" of it inevitably comes from the left, as does the "sense" of false pretences. The BBC goes on:

"There is the feeling of being bogged down in a conflict with no obvious end in sight. "

Really? How clueless can the BBC get? Troops are being pulled out without replacements, more troops reductions have been announced and Iraq and the US just signed an agreement to negotiate more troop reductions in 2008. All of this comes on the heels of drastic reductions in civilan and military deaths and the defeat of al Qaeda in Iraq.

If you think that's bad, listen to Jonathan Marcus totally misreprensent Bush and the facts.

"And, just as in Vietnam, there is the fear that the very nature of the conflict has been misunderstood.

For a long time President George Bush refused to accept that there was any comparison between Iraq and Vietnam.

In April 2004, for example, he insisted that any analogy between the two conflicts was "false" and that making such comparisons sent the wrong message both to US troops and to enemies of the US.

But in August of this year Mr Bush changed his tune.

Speaking to a veterans' organisation in Kansas City he said one unmistakeable legacy of Vietnam was that "the price of America's withdrawal was paid by millions of innocent citizens".

Their agony, he said, "would add to our vocabulary new terms like 'boat-people', 're-education camps' and 'killing fields'". "

Got that? "one umnistakeable legacy" and from that this beeboid claims Bush "changed his tune" about comparing Iraq to Vietnam! He did no such thing! Bush said we learned a valuable lesson in withdrawing too soon. In essence Bush was saying don't cut and run in Iraq like the Democrats did in Vietnam.

Marcus is typical of the left wing idiots that inhabit the BBC.

US - CNN rigged debate for Democrats:video

Iraq - Do Arabs Fear Democracy More Than Israel?

Iraq: Beyond the Drop in Violence

A good look at the state of Iraq.

Read the whole thing but here's the conclusion.

"IRAQ today is a hundred times better than what it would have been under Saddam in any imaginable circumstances. Statistics of violence don't begin to measure the efforts of a whole nation to re-emerge from the darkest night in its history. And in that sense, the news from Iraq since April 2003 has always been more good than bad.

What is new is that now more Americans appear willing to acknowledge this - good news in itself. As long as the United States remains resolute in its support for the new Iraq, there will be more good news than bad from what is at present the main battlefield in the War on Terror."

Despite all the efforts of the left and the left wing media to support the terrorists in Iraq, they have been defeated.

Iraq - Remember Fallujah?

Here's a reminder.

Now that Fallujah is a success, the BBC and the rest of the left wing media ignore it.

UK - Islam and a "Web of criticism"

That's how Josh Freedman Berthoud feels we are judging Muslims and Islamic countries. According to him we shouldn't use the Internet as a tool to learn and understand other cultures. What Josh leaves out of his argument is the fact that we don't just rely on the Internet to as he puts it:

"However, we must likewise be resistant to the urge to use the Internet as some kind of window onto a world of depravity, twitching our curtains, tutting, as we criticise our new neighbours."

Well Josh that might have some small measure of truth if we didn't have newspapers, television, radio, magazines and our own two eyes to go along with what others report on the Internet. I've heard some pretty lame excuses for denying the barbarism of Islam, but this is one of the lamest. Typical left wing drivel.

Be sure and read the comments.

US fire kills Iraq bus passengers

The BBC uses a tragedy to further its own anti war agenda - again.

"Up to four Iraqi civilians are reported to have died in Baghdad when US troops fired at a minibus taking them to work.

The US military in Iraq said its forces opened fire at the vehicle "after the driver failed to heed a warning shot".

A US military statement said the road the minibus was travelling on, in the Shaab area of north-east Baghdad, was only for use by passenger cars. "

While tremendous progress is being made, Iraq is still a dangerous place and people would be wise to heed directions, warnings and curfews. But just to make sure you get the idea that the Americans are trigger happy, the BBC goes on.

"The US military has also given details of an incident that happened on Monday when three Iraqi civilians, including a child, were killed by its troops manning a roadblock 200 kilometres (140 miles) north of Baghdad. It said their vehicle approached the roadblock in the city of Baiji at high speed and the driver ignored warnings to stop. "

In both cases it appears the drives failed to stop after warning shots were fired. How many times have we seen suicide bombers force people to ignore warnings? And mini vans are favorite of the bombers since they can carry far more explosives. So, shouldn't the headline be "Iraqis die after ignoring warnings to stop"? But that isn't eye catching or anti American enough.

Near the end the BBC want to drive home the point.

"Correspondents say the US military presence is unpopular among many of the Iraqi population, because of what is seen as the heavy-handed use of force by US troops. "

Ah, the infamous "correspondents say". Would that be left wing BBC, al Reuters, or Guardian correspondents?

Here's an al Reuters report on the incidents but interestingly leads with why the police and military have to be on guard all the time.

"BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Nine people were killed when a suicide bomber posing as a shepherd attacked police north of Baghdad on Tuesday and at least six civilians died in a spate of shootings by U.S. soldiers, security officials said.

Police at the Diyala province headquarters in Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) north of Baghdad, said they were taken by surprise when the suicide bomber herded several sheep towards a checkpoint before detonating a belt packed with explosives."

On the one hand we have a suicide bomber hearding sheep that isn't challenged and he kills 9 people and on the other, civilians are killed because they failed to stop after warning shots are fired. What would you do?

Reuters - bin Laden is a militant

That's what al Reuters calls the world's most wanted terrorist.

"Soon, God willing, (we will post) a new message to the European people from the lion Imam who defeated the Americans and tyrants, Sheikh Osama bin Laden," said the pro-al Qaeda Web site which regularly posts messages from the militant leader."

and

"Bin Laden's last message was released on October 22. The Saudi-born militant then urged unity between Iraq's Sunni rebels."

US - Cautious hope for Mid-East talks

The BBC has this to say about the talks.

"The talks simply seek to assure both sides that the United States and the big Arab powers will do what is necessary to support a dialogue, and to get a firm commitment to the launch of that dialogue, he says. "

Just how far will "the big Arab powers", including Saudi Arabia, go to "do what is necessary"? Not far it would seem.

" Saudi Arabia's participation in the U.S.-sponsored talks on Middle East peace was seen as a diplomatic coup for the Bush administration but the kingdom has made clear there will be no handshakes with Israeli officials."

Iraq - Myth of the looted museum

continues in the Times.

"The ransacking of the museum in April 2003 in the aftermath of the US invasion provoked worldwide outrage. American soldiers were criticised for watching as looters, taking advantage of the Iraqi government’s collapse, plundered the building.

“It was as if a hurricane had hit,” said Donny George, the museum director at the time, describing his return to the museum after it had been plundered. “What the looters could not take, they smashed.”

Some 15,000 items vanished. In time, some priceless objects were recovered, including the 5,200-year-old sacred vase of Warka, the world’s oldest-known carved-stone ritual vessel, which was returned in the back of a car. "

This myth was debunked years ago.

Back in 2003 Donny George sang a different tune.

"Donny George, research director, said: "There was a mistake. Someone asked us what is the number of pieces in the whole collection. We said over 170,000, and they took that as the number lost.

"Reporters came in and saw empty shelves and reached the conclusion that all was gone. But before the war we evacuated all of the small pieces and emptied the show cases except for fragile or heavy material that was difficult to move." Some pieces were hidden in the vaults of the central bank and others at secret locations, he added."

So, how much was lost?

"A carefully prepared storage plan, used in the Iran-Iraq war and the first Gulf war, ensured that tens of thousands of pieces were saved, they said. They now believe that the number of items taken was in the low thousands, and possibly hundreds."

Britons oppose Muslim veils

and other Islamic things. Good for them.

UK - BBC continues support for terrorism

Compare the BBC's report on PM Gordon Brown's statement in the Sun to the actual document. Notice what the BBC left out?

"We will work with America and all countries of the European Union to defeat terrorist extremism."

"We must also build better community relations and a stronger sense of our shared British values – what is sometimes called winning the battle of hearts and minds."

"We must isolate Islamic extremists who in our colleges and local communities seek to manipulate and divide our society."

"We will celebrate and build upon those things that unite Britain – the shared values, traditions and aspirations that promote a strong shared British culture and identity."

Brown lays the blame for terrorism, correctly, on Islamic extremists, calls for an end to multiculturalism and says we have to work with America to fight Islamic terrorism - all of which the BBC left out of their report. Revealing.

UK - Terrorism is a mystery to the BBC

Or so they'd have you believe. Here is the BBC's headline for a report on the first female Muslim terrorist convicted in the UK. "The enigma that is the 'Lyrical Terrorist' " See? She's a mystery to the BBC. What part is the mystery BBC? The fact that she's a terrorist? Female? Writes poems? Or the three in combination? Is what motivated her a mystery to you BBC? You might be left wondering as well from the BBC's report.

The BBC sets the tone with the first 4 paragraphs wherein we are told she is shy, dresses modestly, is loved by her mother, is given the freedom of the court and is polite. Nice set up eh? The BBC's got your sympathy for this terrorist already.

The BBC then go on to report how she merely downloaded some terrorist material from the web, wrote poems and chatted online about watching terrorist videos. The BBC note how she sobbed when found guilty and even allege some on the jury cried too: "two female members of the jury also appeared to be wiping away tears." For all we know they could have had a cold. On the other hand, given the state of Londonistan, perhaps we should be surprised they convicted her of anything at all.

You will note that the BBC fails to mention Islam at all, the source for her call to terrorism.

It's not just the BBC that is taken in, the judge called her a mystery as well and allowed her to leave by the rear exit.

Now after all that sympathy, here's a dose of reality.

"When they raided her home, they found folders on the computer called "Samina’z Stuff" and "Copy of Handbooks" as well as dozens of handwritten notes hidden in the pages of a book and a bracelet which carried the word jihad [holy war].

On a mirror were found the words "Lyrical Terrorist" and on one piece of paper she had written: "The desire within me increases every day to go for martyrdom, the need to go increases second by second."

In her poems she wrote about killing heathens, adding: "Kafirs your time will come soon, and no one will save you from your doom."

Police found a copy of Osama Bin Laden’s Declaration of War and a passage in which she praised the al-Qa’eda leader and added: "We will not let you have any peace. We will show no remorse, no mercy and no regrets"

In one poem, called "Raising Mujahideen [holy fighter] Children," she recommended indoctrinating children from the age of seven, adding: "Show the children videos and pictures of mujahideen and tell them to become strong like them."

Explain how the Mujahideen fear no man - they fear Allah alone, and for his sake they are able, willing and capable to do anything in defence of Islam." Malik joined an extremist organisation called Jihad Way set up to disseminate terrorist propaganda and support al-Qa’eda."

Here's how the BBC describe her favorite videos: "in the section for her favourite TV shows, she entered "watching videos by Muslim brothers in Iraq, yep, the beheading ones." You see? It's all about Iraq, she was merely agitated by the war in Iraq, that's why she did such things. Nothing to do with Islam. Or is it? Here's the part the BBC left out.

"Under favourite TV shows, it said: "Watching videos by my Muslim brothers in Iraq, yep the beheading ones, watching video messages by Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahri [his deputy] and other videos which show massacres of the kaffirs."

Kaffirs would be you and me. You see, this isn't about Iraq, or Afganistan or any other foreign policy issues - this is about Islam versus the west.

US - Clinton: "Ladies First"

Sums her up pretty well.

Iraq - A miracle

From the AP no less.

"BAGHDAD - Twilight brings traffic jams to the main shopping district of this once-affluent corner of Baghdad and hundreds of people stroll past well-stocked vegetable stands, bakeries and butcher shops.

To many in Amariyah, it seems little short of a miracle.

Just six months ago, this mostly Sunni neighborhood was one of the centers of al-Qaida in Iraq operations. The district in western Baghdad was hit by more than a dozen bombings and shootings some days. Few people dared to venture onto the streets.

On Tuesday, women shopped and men drank tea in sidewalk cafes. Occasionally, U.S. soldiers walking the streets were greeted with salaams and smiles.

What is happening here reflects similar trends across Baghdad and parts of Iraq, where civilian and U.S. military casualties have dropped sharply in the past two months. But the speed of the turnaround in places such as Amariyah has taken almost everyone — including U.S. military forces in the area — by surprise."

Iraq - Signs of hope

Take that al Qaeda.

America less popular in the world?

That's what the left keep telling themselves. But consider this.

"What’s particularly interesting is that, years ago when the Bush presidency was new and Iraq was a fresh issue, the left told us constantly that George Bush was making America less popular in the world. Yet during the President’s term in office three of our traditional allies (Canada, Germany and now France) elected leaders that displaced virulently anti-Bush and anti-American leaders with people more of Sarkozy’s temperament (Stephen Harper in Canada and Angela Merkel in Germany). "

Iraq - When Good News Is Bad News

for the left.

"Frankly, I don't understand why so many mock us for wanting a future for Iraq. Is your hatred for George Bush so great that you prefer to see millions of civilians suffer just to prove him wrong?

It really comes down to this: you are determined to see Iraq become a permanent hellhole because you hate Bush. And we are determined to see Iraq become a success, because we want to live."

What If Iraq Stabilizes?

The left are soiling their pants at the prospect of the US wining in Iraq. Shouldn't they be happy for the Iraqi people?

The is the same TNR that still stands behind its fabricated anti US military stories.

Terror Bust In Europe

UK - Support for the BBC from a surprising source

That's what this BBC employee claims.

"support for the BBC from a perhaps surprising source
Nick Reynolds (BBC) | Homepage | 06.11.07 - 2:16 pm | # "

Really Nick? What exactly did Hitchens say?

"Evidence from the USA shows that privately run broadcast networks - ABC, CBS and NBC - are just as dominated by received liberal opinion as the BBC. "

Oh, the "support" gets even better.

"This would be served by the open acknowledgement of bias by presenters and reporters, and a commitment to ensure that rival views were aired, and that on occasion programmes should be presented by adversaries, so that ( at the very least ) no public figure was ever interviewed by a sympathiser. Because of the licence fee, we do have a faint but actual chance of compelling the BBC to behave in this way. Long years of criticisms are beginning to have an effect and, redoubled, may actually achieve change since the BBC is going to need all the allies it can get if it is to survive thee next 20 years intact. I find it encouraging that many intelligent BBC figures, such as Andrew Marr, are now at last accepting that the Corporation does have a strong cultural bias to the left. It took time."

And more "support":

"It doesn't try, like the BBC, to pretend that it was ever unbiased in the past."

To a BBC employee like Nick, this is considered "support".

This is why it's taking so long and is so hard to change the left wing bias at the BBC, left wing bias is so entrenched in BBC employees they think it's a "normal" world view. It doesn't occur to them that most of the world doesn't think like them. You need to get out more often Nick.

US - ABC and manufacturing the news

Michelle has the story.

"ABC is doing a social experiment in Birmingham that includes having same-sex couples show affection for each other in public, according to Birmingham police department sources.

FOX6 first learned about this story from a Southside merchant who pointed out an RV parked at the corner of 20th Street and 11th Avenue South. The merchant said ABC was working on a week-long project to see how people would react to things like public displays of affection by gay and lesbian couples."

To which this suggestion is made.

"I wonder if they would consider sending a professor wearing an “I Love W” button and an American flag pin into the faculty lounge at Harvard or some other liberal ivory tower with a hidden camera. I would love to see that experiment. I can’t imagine anyone at NBC doing that one. Maybe John Stossel at ABC, though?

…Perhaps when I get back from deployment, you can follow me around Seattle and see how I get treated wearing my Navy uniform…

…Why don’t you set up some white guy with hidden cameras, put a George Bush T-Shirt on him and have him walk down a street in Pakistan. Or, better yet, have him walk down a street in Detroit. I’ll just bet you could get a lot of bigoted reactions…

…* Wear a pro-life t-shirt to a Women’s Studies class.
* Wear a Halliburton company polo shirt to the Kos Kidz annual blogmeet.
* PUBLISH CARTOONS WITH MOHAMMED IN THEM…"

Recognising success on the streets of Iraq

From the Observer no less. I bet their Guardian co-workers choked on that one.

US - Hilary Clinton takes sides on the issues

Both sides.

Afghan officials: Better care saves 89,000 kids this year

More good news from Afghanistan that should be getting more attention.

But it's not until the very last sentence that the AP, and then only in passing, give credit to the US.

"A U.S.-led invasion in 2001 toppled the Taliban militant movement from power."

Libya - Gadhafi and his Washington masters?

Another sign al Qaeda is losing.

How to handle a Telemarketer

This is hilarious.

Iran - Democrats: "The Grand Bargainers"

It was the Democrats that allowed North Korea to build its nuclear reactors and put it on the road to nuclear weapons. It took Bush and the Republicans tough stance and actions against N. Korea to get it to start to dismantle them.

Given a chance, the Democrats want to pursue their same appeasement policy with Iran. Michael Leeden has some thoughts on that plan.

"As I have said before, this sort of behavior fulfills Einstein's definition of madness: continuing to do the same thing, hoping for a different outcome. Obama is not alone in this asylum; Senator Chuck Hagel has written to the president to call for negotiations, and now some 28 Democratic-plus-one-"independent" Senators are thumping their navels, telling the president that they have not authorized "war" with Iran.

But there is war with Iran. That war started in 1979 and has been waged non-stop ever since. By them. If the Senators want to pursue appeasement, they're entitled. But they at least should be honest about it. Instead of saying that they don't want us to wage war against the Islamic Republic, they should say they don't want us to defend ourselves against Iranian aggression."

Iraq - Thousands return to safer Iraqi capital

Nice to see the AP reporting the good news out of Iraq.

"BAGHDAD - In a dramatic turnaround, more than 3,000 Iraqi families driven out of their Baghdad neighborhoods have returned to their homes in the past three months as sectarian violence has dropped, the government said Saturday. "

Saudi Arabia is hub of world terror

and the engine is Islam.

"It was an occasion for tears and celebration as the Knights of Martyrdom proclaimed on video: “Our brother Turki fell during the rays of dawn, covered in blood after he was hit by the bullets of the infidels, following in the path of his brother.” The flowery language could not disguise the brutal truth that a Saudi family had lost two sons fighting for Al-Qaeda in Iraq.

The elder brother, Khaled, had been a deputy commander of a crack jihadist “special forces” unit. After his “glorious” death, Turki took his place.

“He was deeply affected by the martyrdom of his brother,” the Knights said. “He became more ambitious and more passionate about defending the land of Islam and dying as a martyr, like his brother.” "

N Korea nuclear shutdown to start

The BBC and CNN both report on this historic news - without mentioning President Bush.
